PSI Takes into consideration costs of the solutions and develops alternatives that will achieve the desired objective cost effectively.  As an example, review the Order Receipt Business Process map below.  When  this process  was  Value  Stream Mapped, it was determined that the ERP system was the biggest contributor to an inefficient and ineffective process.  Further analysis concluded that it was not costs effective to replace or upgrade the ERP system.  To streamline the process, an alternative solution shown in the document below was developed and implemented utilizing parallel processing.  This approach streamlined the process, eliminated redundant steps, and eliminated duplicate entries.  It enabled the business unit to achieve their objectives for order receipt processing and minimized the costs associated with the process.

PSI’s objective is to provide the client with the best solution that addresses the client’s needs.  There is no high powered sales pitch to purchase products to optimize the process.  Through Value Stream Mapping and developing the Optimized Process Flow Chart, a thorough understanding of the process needs and personnel utilizing the process is gained.  This enables PSI to provide the best alternative solutions with a new perspective so that the client can make the best decision.  
  
PSI Adds Profit To The Client’s Bottom Line
 
A client wanted to improve their new product introduction process to increase capacity and improve quality.  A CAD/CAM software supplier was pressuring them to purchase a $150K software package.  Analysis of this product concluded that after implementation the costs would exceed $300K.  The client did not have the technical capability of maintaining the system and hiring outside consultants to maintain it would have further increased the costs.  Not only did the salesman not tell the client of the additional costs, he also was selling them an inferior product that had less capability than their existing software.  After gathering all of the facts, a recommendation was made to the client to up-grade their existing CAD/CAM software and to build a streamlined automated process flow around it.  This alternative was chosen and the process was totally implemented for $150K.  Initial costs savings to the client was $150K (excludes long term costs of maintenance and cost impact of inferior product).  The following chart shows the productivity and quality results that the client was able to achieve as a result of this project.
